The Crossroad 8 combines Shimano’s Premium Nexus 8-speed gearing (Shimano's most efficient internal hub) with a lightweight 7005 aluminum frame and front fork for quick, responsive handing as well as the best hill climbing performance of any chainless bike on the market. This hybrid bike also uses 1" rise handlebars for control and safety, and an angle-adjustable stem so you can find a riding position just right for you. The Crossroad uses 700x35C (1 1/4") high pressure tires (85 psi) for smoother, quicker rides, and Shimano’s 8-speed Premium internal gearing to deliver fast, consistent and super smooth changes that you can make at any time - while pedaling, coasting or even at a complete stop - now that's convenient. The Crossroad's 8-speeds offer a versatile range of gearing for a wide range of terrain. In fact, compared to a 24-speed chain-derailluer bike, the Crossroad 8 offers the range of a 21-speeds (30-92 gear inches) for tackling hills as well as cruising at fast speeds. By eliminating all the overlapping and redundant gears of an externally geared chain bike, the Crossroad 8 offers this wide range of gearing in 8 evenly spaced gears. Plus, Shimano's internal hub provides a smoother, more consistent shifting than external gearing components. The Crossroad also offers super wide brake pads on a set of stiff brake arms for excellent stopping power - even when it gets wet. Most of all, with its fully enclosed shaft drive and sealed internal gearing, there is no grease to get on your hands or clothes and no derailleurs or sprockets to clean or get tuned-up. This is why the Crossroad is a perfect bike for commuting or just getting away from it all for a while.
